Long distance rentals made easy
When my 6-year-old daughter said she wanted to learn violin, I asked the chair of the music school where to get her a good rental, and she suggested Amadeus Strings. I was skeptical, because we live in NYC and I was worried it would be a hassle to deal with a business that was based upstate. But I gave it a try, and I am so glad I did.
First of all, the quality of the instruments has been consistently outstanding. These are beautiful violins crafted in Europe, with a lovely tone and ease of playability. Second, they make size upgrades extremely convenient. We have successfully upgraded from a 1/4 to a 1/2 to a full sized violin, and the exchanges were always very easy. They UPS you the new violin, you pop the old one in the box the new one came in, and you bring it to UPS. Done and done. Third, the staff, especially the owner, have been uniformly professional, pleasant, and responsive. We have been so happy with their violins that we just purchased a violin for my daughter from them. The new violin is terrific, and they included some sweet gifts with it, like an elegant shoulder rest and a fancy new rosin. My daughter is very happy to have it. But it has been a bittersweet transition, as I will be sad not to work with the people at Amadeus Strings anymore!
My daughter has now been studying violin for seven years. Her playing has already brought more joy to our family than I could ever express. She has performed twice in her music school’s annual recitals on the small stage at Carnegie Hall, as well as in churches, nursing homes, parks, street corners, and building lobbies all over Manhattan. Through it, she has met four of her closest friends. I know that thanks to her playing, she has made memories for a lifetime already.
